It is human nature to want to possess the ability to predict the future so we may prepare accordingly. While we may not be so lucky as to have that caliber navigation system in life, Audi has ensured we can, at the very least, have it in a car. The German engineers who have brought us road-hugging luxury vehicles since 1964, recently unveiled the 2011 Audi A8 at Miami’s 2009 Art Basel, the swanky, cultured, annual event where dealers, clients, curators and collectors alike, convene to celebrate the irrevocable liberty that is art…and boy, oh boy, is this baby a work of art. Premiered at the Rubell Family’s “Beg, Borrow and Steal” exhibition in Miami, the stunning piece of machinery combines a sultry, sexy presence with a practicality that provides its owners with not only convenience, but safety as well. We were fortunate enough to not only catch a rare glimpse of this newest member of the Audi family, but also its brothers and sisters at the Audi Pavillion. In addition, the full throttle sponsor of the event, provided courtesy vehicles to high profile atendees which, this year included John McEnroe, Elle McPherson and Calvin Klein, escorting the VIP’s amid the energentic event, as well as its surrounding satellite fairs. The new Audi A8 was not only deserving of a grande premier at Miami’s trendiest modern art event, but also very appropriate.
